The winner of the international research competition for young researchers was announced – congratulations, Cătălina Andricioaei!
At the end of 2023, the Estonian Institute of Historical Memory announced an international research competition for young scholars, inviting researchers up to the age of 35 to participate. The competition sought scientific publications or unpublished master’s and doctoral theses focusing on the history of communist ideology or various aspects of communist regimes, which did not necessarily have to be related to Estonian history.
The winner of the 2024 competition is Cătălina Andricioaei from Romania, with her doctoral dissertation, ‘Some Citizens:’ Romani Romanians and Socialist Citizenship in Romania, 1947–1989. The winner will be awarded a prize of €3,000.
The submissions were evaluated by researchers from the Estonian Institute of Historical Memory: PhD Meelis Maripuu, PhD Olev Liivik, PhD Meelis Saueauk, and Toomas Hiio.
