On 23 August of the 100th anniversary year of the Republic of Estonia, on the European Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Totalitarian Regimes, an international conference Utopia unachieved despite millions victimised? Communist crimes and European memory will be held in Tallinn, addressing the topic of crimes committed by communist regimes and their consequences and the possibility of a common European culture of remembrance.

Preceding the conference, the Memorial to the Victims of Communism will be opened at  Maarjamäe, Tallinn.
