The Estonian Institute of Historical Memory is inviting young people of Estonian heritage to attend a summer school from 3 to 8 August 2025. Applications are open to high school and undergraduate students until May 5.

The aim of the Summer School is to introduce young people to 20th-century Estonian history and give them an opportunity to visit their ancestral homeland and make new friendships with fellow students from all around the world.

During the five-day program, students will participate in a range of activities, including lectures by historians, interactive workshops and group discussions, study-visits to different museums and memorial sites. They will also explore historical landmarks, places of cultural significance and experience the natural beauty of Estonia during trips across the country.

The summer school starts and ends in Tallinn and includes a two-day trip to Tartu and Viljandi. The program features visits to the Estonian National Museum, Ennuksemäe Forest Brothers’ bunker, along with guided tours of Old Town Tallinn and the Memorial to the Victims of Communism and much more. Participants will also be warmly welcomed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and may take part in a private tour of the historic Estonian Knighthood House.

All activities throughout the summer school will be conducted in English.

Participation in the program is free of charge. All the local expenses of the participants are covered: accommodation, meals, transport and tours. Participants are expected to cover their own transportation costs to and from Tallinn.
